stage4

i started by creating more work inline with what i was doing before but took it further by making it more a person book than a fanzine. the work i was did was becoming increasingly in the vain of mark pawsons work and i tried to combine the two stlyes. i added bits of red here and there to show the impact of adding such a stricking colour to an orignally black and white image. to remove some of the crisp feel of adding colour i scrunched up the paper to bring it further back towards the rough edge. i played around with "thinners" but produced no nice effects i think perhaps if i try further somthing might be produced (but after an hour working with it my head was sore from the fumes). i think i might try and experiment further perhaps going back to stencils and spray paint to attempt to create nicer effects.

Part3

The inside i acted more freely in making. i took inspiration from the old posters but moved it more in my own direction using drawings where necissary and playing around with type not doing an accurate copy of pages more using that style to aid my work. i experimented in recrreating type in different ways and in different composions trying to keep the non-uniform appeal of this kind of fanzine. i there by managed to do alot of part 4 within this first magazine leaving me to play around more in part 4.

Stage 3

I started by thinking about what can be produced with just black and white publications and play with all the things which can be produced by these two colours. I was looking at some of the old punk posters and fanzines using the internet a friends book and ones I have accumulated or been sent. I have always liked that style but I have never tried to do something similar and this seemed like a perfect opportunity as the work showed a high level of experimentation and visual stimulus usually within the confines of black and white. so i started by recreating a poster of a 7 seconds gig replacing the characters with potatoes. i scanned the image in and recreated the type on the computer. i then went over it with tipex and pen to get the right feel and shakyness to the type. i perceeded to photocopy and re-photocopy it until it had the same grain as the orginal.

oh yeah i forgot about the altering of contrast and helping lisa (extremely minorly) with measuring.

what ive already done

im starting this little late soo im going to have to remeber... ummm... well for the first section of the project i started by seperating the front covers images and photoshoping where so that i could write over ther image etc i made the blood a seperate layer so you could put other pictures in the space. Then, over the weekend, i spent both saturday and sunday collecting all the seperate pieces everyone had done into one file altering type and adding bits here and there. i also found a couple of the fonts needed and changed some of the other fonts i didnt have to do much tho as the others had found nearly all of them of them. i then italisised and bolded things that where needed to be done in the main body of writing and added the sub-text on the front page and the text on page seven. i then dropped the finished piece with my laptop to lisa and craig on monday befotre i went to work and they very kindly went to get it printed altering stuff where needed. for the second section i started working the night we had the brief on the front cover creating resizing the pictures and creating a couple of drafts. i managed to get all the text in apart from the "jacket potatoes in ten minutes p.38" which im still laying around with. We all thought the blood would look good staying on so left it (sauce). i also put the price over the blood in the corner replicating the one on front cover of the orginal. today i took what fahana did on the title and improved on it adding the "cook" bit and altering the leading and spacing. i also started playing around with the colour of some of the fonts and positioning and type of "jacket potatoes..".
